[Image taken 19.12.20] Except cycles sign installed mid-December 2020 on Clifford Street, York. As part of the covid-19 distancing measures, Coppergate was closed in the eastbound direction to all traffic except cycles. However, people on Clifford Street riding north were unable to access it. The council said: "The exemption has been continued until September 2021 in line with the other temporary restrictions for the city centre." While some people may have reservations about making this turn, the alternatives for those who live/work/study etc on this side of the river are more complex. Plus one stretch closes when the riverside floods.
